Losing Teams, Mardi Gras and Nazis

The Philadelphia Phillies are the only sports franchise to lose 10,000 games. It took them 124 years to do it, during which time they won 8,810 games and a single World Series championship.

Mobile, Alabama was the home of the first Mardi Gras celebration, which began in 1703.

With the help of his Italian friends, Nazi war criminal Dr. Josef Mengele escaped from Germany and lived out his life as a mechanic in Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, under the assumed names Helmut Greger, Peter Hochbichler and Wolfgang Gerhard until his drowning death at age 67.
