Computer Monitor Fire

I have a client who had his house burned down by a flaming computer monitor. We're trying to find other examples of similar monitors that caught fire. It's a tedious task, and so far, we've found but one comparable incident. If you know of any computer monitors that have spit out flames or sparks, let me know. We're trying to find as many computer monitor fires as we can.

My Dell ST2010b monitor that I have had for 2 and 1/2 years started to make a buzzing sound, which was followed by the screen starting to flicker. Shortly after this started to happen smoke started to come out the top vents so I unplugged it and ran it outside just in time for it to catch fire. I have never heard of this happening to this Dell monitor before so I just want to warn people with the ST2010 and ST2010b to be careful. it was manufactured in August 2009. I called Dell and they said "you did not maintain it properly" and "it is out of warranty". I don't care if its out of warranty, it shouldn't catch on fire!

I had the same problem. I have a HP 1955. Got it second hand. HP 1955 Smoked and Burned 01/07/2011

I pressed the power button on my HP 1955 at the office it flickered and dimmed. Smoke poured out the top and a small flame started before I could get it unplugged. Needless to say I am concerned that our office that is filled with these things is a ticking time bomb. I wish that HP or the original manufacturer would "fess up" and have these things pulled from use. I don't know what smoke I inhaled nor what chemicals where in it!!!

If they can pull peanut butter and aspirin can't they pull acrid smoking toxic monitors from HP????
