Michael Jackson suffered "flu-like symptoms" with "some vomiting" on Tuesday and went to hospital. Is that a coincidence or what? He just started jury selection, and all of a sudden, he's ill. He's in "stable condition," say doctors. In this case, "stable condition" sounds a lot like code for "he's as healthy as he's ever been."
When was the last time Michael Jackson threw up before this week? You don't know. Neither do I. But I'll wager that you can't answer the question by looking at emergency room records, because this is probably the first time in his life Michael Jackson went to the hospital for barfing. I suspect that is trial strategy and nothing more.
I once had a client blow off two depositions because he was anxious. The third time his deposition was scheduled, I told him"If you aren't there, you had better have a receipt from the emergency room." Guess what? He didn't show. But the next day, he brought in his receipt from the emergency room.
I'm guessing Michael might come down with the flu a few more times during this case. And when the jury comes back with a verdict, you might even see him come down with something more serious.
