Reggie Bush won the Heisman Trophy by the widest margin in history. For the first time since 1999, just three players got invitations to New York for the Heisman ceremony. The reason was obvious once you saw the voting. Reggie Bush received the largest percentage of #1 votes ever. Vince Young received the largest percentage of #2 votes ever. And Matt Leinart received the largest percentage of #3 votes ever. It was damn near a consensus one, two and three, in that order.
The one vote that you and I could participate in was a sham. The ballot stuffing myopians selected Vince Young (a worthy choice), Maurice Drew (?!?) and Brodie Croyle (?!?), in that order, as the three most outstanding players in the nation. Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn are off the list, and Reggie Bush finished a distant fifth, gaining no vote in the process. So when you see that Maurice Drew got 4 points in the Heisman balloting, you know where those points came from.
