Last week, we went to see a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Elizabeth Howard's Curtain Call Theater. We used to love going to Elizabeth Howard's Curtain Call Theater. It was a great place to enjoy a decent meal, a bottle of wine, and a very well produced musical or play. No more.
The theater was sold to The Main Place Christian Fellowship. Since then, to make the place more family friendly, they've dropped the price for kids, and dropped the quality of the food and service. Our meals (the chicken and the pot roast) were mediocre, at best, and the kid's "pizza" was the grossest I've ever seen at a restaurant. They are little individual frozen pizzas that they warm up and serve to unsuspecting kids. They are worse than Chuck-E-Cheese's. The service was worse than the food. We were seated an hour and a half before the show began. We got our entrees about five minutes before the lights went out, and we ate our dinner in total darkness.
The show itself was well done, with a talented cast. But the dining was terrible. On top of all that, I couldn't even order a glass of wine with which to drown my sorrows. No alcohol is served now. Apparently, because drinking is sinful. Because we're Christians. Jesus wouldn't have poisoned his body with wine, now, would he?
Whereas in the past, I would have considered the Curtain Call to be a great place for a date night with my wife, now, I wouldn't consider it again unless we're doing a group night with the school, or the Girl Scouts or something.
I thought Jesus was hammered before he went on the cross and, well got hammered.
