I got an email that was supposed to be thought provoking. Well, it was, but it didn't provoke the thoughts the sender suggested. The email questions are in red, because that's how the email came. My reactions are not in red.
Isn't it:
Funny how long a couple of hours spent at church are, but how short they are when watching a movie.
That depends entirely on the movie. Church actually goes by faster than a Hilary Duff flick.
Funny how we can't think of anything to say when we pray, but don't have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend.
That's because we can see our friend and our friend says things back to us.
Funny how we get thrilled when a baseball game goes into extra innings, but we complain when a sermon is longer than the regular time.
I usually leave in the 7th or 8th inning. What are extra innings?
Funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel.
The best selling novel is usually written with clarity and makes sense. Even Biblical scholars who devote their lives to understanding the Bible have trouble with many parts of it.
Funny how hard it is for people to learn a simple gospel well enough to tell others, but how simple it is for the same people to understand and repeat gossip.
With the Bible, your audience usually either (i) disagrees with and won't believe you, rendering the discussion unpleasant; or (ii) agrees with you already and has heard the story, rendering the discussion redundant. Gossip is usually believed and is often considered novel by the listener. This positively reinforces the behavior in the gossip spreader.
Funny how we believe what the newspaper say, but question what the Bible says.
I question both. But the newspaper people usually admit when they are wrong. When the Bible is wrong, I am told that I'm a moron who is too foolish and imperfect to comprehend the passage.
Funny how everyone wants to got to heaven provided they do not have to believe, or to think, or to say or to do anything.
What's so funny or unexpected about people wanting to get to heaven?
