Here are the games I am or was looking forward to in week seven:
Clemson @ #21 Wake Forest. Might be the game of the year in the ACC.
#4 LSU @ #11 Florida. These teams were expected to be #1 or #2 in their divisions. Vanderbilt and Ole Miss messed that up. I don't much care for either program, so I'll root for a scoreless tie called on account of lightning. A couple of my SEC fans will be rooting against each other in this one. I'll be watching it for sure, if the party I'm at has it on the TV. Why do they start so many games this late on the east coast?
Arizona State @ #8 USC. The winner of this game should end up in the Rose Bowl or better [if it's USC]. If both are undefeated going in, even the loser might even end up in the Rose Bowl. USC plays just unranked opponents after this. Arizona State was exposed by UNLV and Georgia and Cal. USC had better not lose this one. This was considered the premier conference home game of the season in August. After Notre Dame, this was the second home game to sell out. But the Sun Devils now have three losses, including UNLV. Absent bizarre flukes, like losing 80% of your O-line and having your QB break his hand, any team that loses at home to UNLV should give USC little trouble in the Coliseum. I'll be going without my brother tomorrow. Last time I attended a home game without him? Stanford.
Tennessee @ Georgia might be good.
#1 Oklahoma v. #5 Texas. I still think what I thought in August. Rare is the season in which this game does not end up deciding who wins the Big XII South. Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy could battle for Heisman attention. This is the biggest game of the year now, even bigger than Georgia Alabama or USC Ohio State. A Texas win would be fun. I still hope for a USC bid to the BCS championship, and I'd love to see them play Texas or LSU.
#17 Oklahoma State @ #3 Missouri. Mizzou might be underrated at this point. Chase Daniel hasn't come off the field after a 3-and-out once this season. The Tigers have the most exciting offense I've seen since the 2006 Rose Bowl.
I'll be paying slight attention to the other games involving unbeaten teams, so Penn State @ Wisconsin, Texas Tech v Nebraska, BYU v. New Mexico, Vanderbilt @ Mississippi State, Utah @ Wyoming, Boise State @ Southern Miss, Ball State @ Western Kentucky, Northwestern v. #23 Michigan State and even Tulsa @ Southern Methodist will be worth a check of the out-of-town scores.
