Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck, is one of my two favorite books. This portrait of him is all over Monterey. From a literary standpoint, there is no town I like better than Monterey. There are stores and museum and monuments all over the place, honoring local writers, and particularly honoring Steinbeck.
You sure can't really tell, by looking at his picture, that the guy was a truly great writer, but he was.
