The big weekend has arrived. The Saturday we had circled on our calendars since August. It's here, with Alabama at LSU and USC hosting Oregon. It could have been #1, #2, #3 and #4 in two head-to-head games. Instead, we get a pair of games in which the home team is an 8 point dog. I would not have guessed it.
Anyhow, I'm picking against the spreads this week in all the games involving the BCS 25, plus PSU and Ohio St., and the games involving USC's unranked opponents. My choices are shown in bold. Seven *bets I really like are marked by an asterisk. See if your picks can beat mine.
Saturday, Nov 3:
Temple @ #10 Louisville -16
Missouri @ #7 Florida -17½
#12 Oklahoma @ Iowa St. +12
#16 Texas A&M @ #15 Miss St. +7
*#14 Stanford @ Colorado +28
*TCU @ #21 West Virginia -3½
*Pittsburgh @ #3 Notre Dame -17
*#20 Nebraska @ Michigan St. +1
Mississippi @ #6 Georgia -14
#23 Texas @ #18 Texas Tech -6½
*UTSA @ #25 LA Tech -30½
#13 Clemson @ Duke +12
*#4 Oregon @ #17 USC +8
#24 Okla St. @ #2 Kansas St. -8½
*#1 Alabama @ #5 LSU +8
#22 Arizona @ UCLA -3
San Diego St. @ #19 Boise St. -15½
Arizona St. @ #11 Oregon St. -3½
I'm watching these games outside the BCS 25, too:
Illinois @ Ohio St. -27½
Penn St. @ Purdue +3½
Syracuse @ Cincinnati -4½
Washington St. @ Utah -11
This Saturday, the ten teams I am rooting for, in order, are: USC, Pitt, Arizona#, Oregon St., Oklahoma St., LSU, San Diego St., Duke, Ole Miss, Temple and Iowa St. Although, to be honest, I'd be perfectly content to see Notre Dame ranked #1 tomorrow.
#Unless Oregon beats USC, in which case I'll root for UCLA.
